Welcome to Haven ("Haven", "we", "us", or "our"). By accessing or using our website at HavenWithMe.com, our mobile applications, or any related services (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms").
By creating an account, clicking "I Agree," or simply using Haven, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our Service.
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification. Your continued use of Haven after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
Section 02
Description of Service
Haven is a mental wellness platform that provides:
An AI-powered Therapy Chat companion available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
Guided meditation sessions and breathing exercises
A private, encrypted personal journal
A directory to help you find licensed therapists in your area
Mood tracking and wellness progress tools
Crisis resources and emergency hotline connections
⚠️ Important: Haven's Therapy Chat is powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI). It is not a licensed human therapist, psychologist, psychiatrist, or any other medical or mental health professional. All chat responses are generated by an AI system and should not be treated as professional medical or psychological advice.
Haven is designed to be a supportive AI-powered wellness tool. We are not a healthcare provider, therapist, or medical service.
Section 03
Not a Medical Service — Important
⚠️ Haven's Therapy Chat is powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and is NOT a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Our AI-powered chat is a wellness support tool, not a licensed human therapist, psychologist, or medical professional. Responses are generated by an AI system.
You should always seek the advice of a qualified healthcare provider with any questions you may have regarding a mental health condition or treatment. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something you read or experienced on Haven.
If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, suicidal thoughts, or are in immediate danger, please call 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or 911 immediately. Haven is not equipped to handle emergencies.
By using Haven, you acknowledge and agree that Haven provides emotional support tools only, and you assume full responsibility for your use of the Service and any decisions you make based on it.

Intellectual Property
All content, features, and functionality of Haven — including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, icons, images, audio clips, and software — are the exclusive property of Haven and are protected by US and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Haven for your personal, non-commercial use only.
Your Content: You retain ownership of content you create within Haven (such as journal entries). By submitting content to Haven, you grant us a limited license to store and display that content solely for the purpose of providing you the Service.

Haven's total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to Haven in the three months preceding the claim.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitations on liability, so some of the above may not apply to you.
Section 11
Termination
You may terminate your Haven account at any time by going to your Profile page and selecting "Delete my data," or by contacting our support team.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, for conduct that we believe:
Violates these Terms of Service
Is harmful to other users, Haven, or third parties
Involves fraudulent or illegal activity
Upon termination, your right to use Haven immediately ceases. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, and limitations of liability — shall survive.
Section 12
Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the American Arbitration Association's rules, except that either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in a court of competent jurisdiction.

At Haven, your privacy is not just a legal requirement — it is the foundation of everything we do. We built Haven because people deserve a safe place to be heard. That means your most private thoughts, feelings, and conversations stay exactly that: private.
We will never sell your personal data. We will never sell your mental health information. We will never sell your conversations. Not now, not ever — regardless of any change in ownership, business circumstances, or financial pressure.
Haven was built on the belief that mental wellness support should be a safe, judgment-free experience. We understand that when you share your feelings, fears, and personal struggles with Haven, you are placing enormous trust in us. We take that trust seriously.
This Privacy Policy explains in plain, honest language exactly what information we collect, why we collect it, how we protect it, and the choices you have over your own data. If anything in this policy is unclear, please reach out to us at privacy@havenwithme.com — we are real people who will respond.
This policy applies to all Haven services including HavenWithMe.com, our mobile applications, and any related products or services.
Section 02

We collect the minimum amount of information necessary to provide you with a meaningful, personalized experience. Here is a complete and transparent breakdown:
📋 Information You Provide Directly
Account Information: Your first name, last name, and email address when you create an account
Optional Profile Information: Phone number, date of birth, and profile photo if you choose to provide them
Payment Information: We use Stripe to process payments. We never see or store your full credit card number — only the last 4 digits and expiration date for your reference
Communications: If you contact our support team, we retain those communications to help resolve your issue
📊 Information We Collect Automatically
Usage Data: How often you use Haven, which features you use, and general patterns of engagement
Device Information: Device type, operating system version, browser type, and screen size — used to ensure Haven works properly on your device
Log Data: IP address, access times, pages visited, and crash reports for security and performance purposes
Mood Check-ins: The mood selections you make in the app (stored locally on your device)
💬 Conversation & Journal Data
Your chat conversations with Haven's companion are processed to generate responses
Journal entries are stored locally on your device and are not transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly enable cloud backup
We do not store the full text of your conversations permanently on our servers
Section 03
How We Use Your Information
Every piece of information we collect is used for one or more of the following legitimate purposes:
Providing the Service: Your name and email are used to create and manage your account and personalize your Haven experience
Processing Payments: Subscription and billing management through our secure payment processor Stripe
Improving Haven: Anonymized, aggregated usage data helps us understand what features are most helpful and where we can do better
Customer Support: When you contact us, we use your information to respond to your questions and resolve issues
Safety & Security: We monitor for unusual activity to protect your account and our platform from fraud and abuse
Legal Compliance: Where required by law, we may use your information to comply with legal obligations
Communications: With your consent, we may send you wellness tips, product updates, and service announcements
We will never use your mental health conversations or journal entries to target you with advertisements. Your innermost thoughts are not marketing data.
Section 04
Information We Never Collect
We want to be crystal clear about what we do not do:
We do not sell your data to data brokers, advertisers, or any third parties
We do not build advertising profiles based on your mental health data
We do not track your activity across other websites or apps
We do not use your conversations to train public AI models without explicit consent
We do not collect sensitive health records or clinical diagnoses
We do not access your contacts, camera, or microphone without your explicit permission
We do not use facial recognition or biometric data
⚠️ If you ever receive a communication claiming to be from Haven that asks for your password, Social Security number, or full credit card details — it is not from us. Please report it immediately to privacy@havenwithme.com.
Section 05
How We Protect Your Data
We implement industry-leading security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction:
Encryption in Transit: All data transmitted between your device and Haven's servers is encrypted using TLS 1.3 (the same standard used by banks)
Encryption at Rest: Stored data is encrypted using AES-256 encryption
Secure Payment Processing: All payment information is handled by Stripe, which is PCI DSS Level 1 certified — the highest level of payment security
Access Controls: Only authorized Haven team members with a legitimate need can access user data, and all access is logged and audited
Regular Security Audits: We conduct regular security reviews and penetration testing to identify and address vulnerabilities
Incident Response: We have a documented plan to respond quickly to any potential security incident and notify affected users promptly
While we implement robust security measures, no system is completely impenetrable. In the unlikely event of a data breach, we will notify you within 72 hours as required by applicable law.
Section 06
Who We Share Data With
We share your data with an extremely limited number of trusted service providers who help us operate Haven. Every partner is contractually bound to use your data only for the specific purpose of providing their service to Haven:
Stripe: Payment processing — they handle subscription billing securely. Stripe's Privacy Policy applies to payment data.
Anthropic: Powers our chat companion responses. Conversation data is processed to generate your response but is not retained for training purposes under our agreement.
Cloudflare: Network security and content delivery. They see encrypted traffic but cannot read your content.
EmailJS: Used only to send account-related transactional emails such as signup confirmations.
That is the complete list. We do not share your data with social media companies, advertisers, data brokers, insurance companies, employers, government agencies (unless legally required), or any other third parties.
Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if we are legally required to do so by a valid court order, subpoena, or government request. We will notify you of such requests to the extent permitted by law and will challenge requests we believe are overbroad or unlawful.
Business Transfer: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of Haven, your data may be transferred. We will provide advance notice and you will have the right to delete your account before any transfer occurs.
Section 07
Your Conversations & Journal — Special Protections
We recognize that your conversations with Haven and your journal entries represent your most personal and vulnerable thoughts. These deserve extraordinary protection.
Your journal entries are stored locally on your device. They are not sent to Haven's servers unless you explicitly enable cloud sync in your settings. Only you can read your journal.
Conversation Processing: When you send a message to Haven's chat companion, that message is sent to our secure servers and processed to generate a response. We do not build permanent records of your full conversation history on our servers. Conversations are processed in the moment and are not retained beyond what is necessary to maintain context within your current session.
No Conversation Profiling: We do not analyze your conversations to build a psychological profile of you, target you with advertisements, or sell insights derived from your mental health discussions to any third party.
Crisis Situations: In very rare circumstances where we have credible reason to believe a user's life is in immediate danger, we may take action to provide emergency resources. We do not proactively monitor conversations but our system is designed to recognize crisis signals and respond with appropriate resources.
Section 08
Cookies & Tracking
Haven uses a minimal number of cookies and local storage — only what is necessary to make the app function properly:
Essential Cookies: Used to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. These are required for Haven to function.
Local Storage: Used to store your journal entries, mood data, and app preferences on your device. This data never leaves your device.
Analytics: We use minimal, privacy-first analytics to understand overall usage patterns. This data is anonymized and aggregated — it cannot be traced back to you individually.
We do not use third-party advertising cookies. We do not allow Facebook, Google Ads, or any advertising network to place tracking cookies on Haven.
You can clear cookies and local storage at any time through your browser or device settings. Note that clearing local storage will delete your locally stored journal entries, so please back them up first.
Section 09
Children's Privacy
Haven is designed to be accessible and helpful for users of all ages, including teenagers who face unique mental health challenges. We take children's privacy extremely seriously.
⚠️ Haven is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it immediately.
Users ages 13-17: We strongly encourage parental involvement. Parents or legal guardians should review this Privacy Policy with their teens. Our Family Plan allows parents to set up accounts for their children while maintaining appropriate oversight.
If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at privacy@havenwithme.com and we will take prompt action.
Section 10

You have meaningful control over your personal data. Regardless of where you live, Haven honors the following rights:

Section 11
Data Retention
We keep your data only as long as necessary to provide the Service and meet our legal obligations:
Active Account Data: Retained for the duration of your account and for up to 30 days after account deletion, to allow for account recovery if deletion was accidental
Conversation Data: Session data is not permanently retained. Any logs are deleted within 90 days
Journal Entries: Stored locally on your device — we do not control retention unless cloud sync is enabled
Payment Records: Retained for 7 years as required by tax and financial regulations, in compliance with US law
Support Communications: Retained for 2 years to help with ongoing support needs
Security Logs: Retained for 90 days for fraud detection and security purposes
When data is deleted, we use secure deletion methods to ensure it cannot be recovered. Backups containing deleted data are purged within 30 days of the deletion request.
Section 12
Third-Party Services & Links
Haven may contain links to third-party services, including therapist directories and crisis hotlines. This Privacy Policy applies only to Haven. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites or services.
When you click on a link to a third-party service such as a therapist's website or a crisis hotline, you leave Haven and that service's own privacy policy applies.
We carefully vet our third-party service providers and only work with companies that maintain high standards of privacy and security. However, we encourage you to review the privacy policy of any service you use.
Section 13
California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA):

Right to Delete: You can request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions
Right to Opt-Out of Sale: We do not sell your personal information, so this right is already protected. You can confirm this by contacting us.
Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights
Right to Correct: You can request correction of inaccurate personal information
Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Information: You can limit our use of sensitive personal information, including mental health data
To exercise your California privacy rights, contact us at privacy@havenwithme.com or through your Profile page. We will verify your identity and respond within 45 days as required by law.
Shine the Light: California Civil Code Section 1798.83 permits Haven users who are California residents to request information about our sharing of personal information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes. We do not share your personal information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes.
Section 14

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons.
When we make significant changes, we will:
Update the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy
Send you an email notification to the address on your account
Display a prominent notice within the Haven app
